I picked up this vase several months ago, it is a ruby red colour with gold flecks, with an eggshell blue ceramic affect on the lower part of the vase, the base of the vase feels a little like fine sandpaper rather than glass. Anyone have any suggestions as to origin?

Re: Red glass vase with ceramic ?
Hi, welcome to the forum. I've no idea about the origin of your vase but it's pottery with a glassy glaze surely?
Re: Red glass vase with ceramic ?
Hi Pip, thanks for your kind welcome. It is definately glass though,
the greyish blue colouring towards the bottom is like a matt enamel, and the gold flecks seem to be just beneath the surface. When the light passes through it shows a deep ruby red through the glass but no light passes through the bottom.

Re: Red glass vase with ceramic ?
The vase would have been marvered (rolled onto) crushed enamels whilst still hot to give that matt effect - the same effect can be seen on a Holmegaard 'Asymmetrisk' table lamp (not that I'm suggesting your vase is Holmegaard):
